In America, food is available everywhere, and a lot of it isn’t particularly healthy. Plus, some people are under a lot of stress and often turn to food for comfort. According to the CDC, as many as 74% of American adults are overweight. If you’re one of those people and you’re ready to make a change, you may want to consider rapid weight loss. If you’ve struggled in the past with weight loss, here are some reasons why that may have happened.

1. Too Many Calories

Remember, you must operate at a caloric deficit to burn fat and calories. If you’re eating more calories than you burn off, you’re going to gain weight. Try to stick with low-calorie and nutritionally dense foods like fruit and vegetables. Limit or avoid high-fat and calorie foods like sweets and carbohydrates. You can also use a BMI calculator online to see how many calories you should consume based on age, gender, current weight, and height.

2. Poor Sleep

According to the American Sleep Foundation, people should get at least 7 to 9 hours of restful sleep each night. Sleep isn’t just for recharging your brain and body, as it can also affect how your body responds to weight loss. When you’re not getting enough sleep, it can create a hormone imbalance that often results in further weight gain and overeating.

3. Not Enough Water

Regardless of how much you weigh, you should drink 8-8 oz glasses of water a day, according to Healthline. However, if you are serious about rapid weight loss, you should increase that water level as much as you can. Drinking water helps you feel fuller, so you’ll eat less food. Water also helps to flush out toxins. As you flux out those toxins, it’ll be easier for you to get rid of excess weight. Plus, if you’re exercising, you’ll need to replenish lost fluids, and the best way to do so is by drinking water, not juices or sodas.

According to the CDC, most adults use exercising (62.9%), less food consumption (62.9%), and an increase in fruit and vegetables (50.4%) as the main way to lose weight. However, if you’re obese, consider a rapid weight loss program to speed things up. The sooner you can reduce your weight, the sooner you can become more mobile and do more intense exercise to speed up your health improvement and further weight loss. If you have any questions about this type of program, contact our clinic today for more information.
